1 scallion, roughly chopped
1 thin slice fresh ginger
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
One 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened and cut into chunks
1/3 cup bottled mango chutney, such as Major Grey
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Put the scallion, ginger, and cilantro in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade. Pulse until finely chopped but not pureed.

Add the remaining ingredients and process until smooth. Adjust the seasoning to your liking. Add a little more curry powder or cayenne, if you prefer. Pulse to mix.

Scrape into a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until chilled. The spread will keep for 3 to 4 days.

Serve with bread, crackers, vegetables, or fruit.

Note: To serve as a dip, stir about 2 tablespoons of milk into the mixture until thin enough for dipping.
