1 1/4 pounds beef top round, very thinly sliced
2 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil
2 tablespoons grated onion
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon curry, powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
salt, optional

Combine all the ingredientst in a large glass or ceramic bowl and mix well. Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes.

Thread the beef slices on four 8-inch wooden skewers, distributing them evenly. Put the skewers on a microwave-safe rack set in a shallow microwave-safe baking dish. Be sure not to overcrowd the dish. The meat may be cooked in 2 batches if necessary, but reduce the cooking time for each batch if you do so. Brush the meat with any remaining curry mixture.

Microwave on High (100 percent) for 3 to 4 minutes, rotating the dish once. Sprinkle lightly with salt, if desired, just before serving.
