Cheese and Onion Spaetzle
A layered casserole of feathery-light dumplings combined with cheese, butter and onions makes for a hearty side dish.
Serves: 6 to 8
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes


1 package (10.5) spaetzle mix, cooked, drained and kept warm
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1 small onion, sliced
1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded

PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees F.

MELT butter in small skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until tender. Arrange layers of spaetzle, onion and cheese in 8-inch-square baking dish.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes or until cheese is melted.
