1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a small, heavy saucepan, stir together the corn syrup, cocoa powder, sugar, and water. Cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until boiling. Let the sauce boil for 1 minute while continuing to stir.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Cool slightly and serve warm or cool completely and serve at room temperature.

To store, let the syrup cool, transfer to a lidded container, and refrigerate for up to 10 days.
