Date and Walnut Bars
These dessert bars are perfect for dunking.

Cook Time: 35 minutes


1 ten-ounce package dates, chopped
1/3 cup water
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
3/4 cup butter, melted

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan. In medium saucepan, combine dates and water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Cool. In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats and walnuts. Stir in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press 3 cups lightly packed crumb mixture into greased pan; spread with date mixture.Sprinkle remaining crumbs over date mixture; press lightly. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely; cut into bars.
