Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 pkg. (12 oz.) Toasted Coconut NESTLÉ TREASURES, coarsely chopped
1 jar (7.5 oz.) macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped

PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease baking sheets.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat brown sugar, butter, shortening, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until combined. Add egg; beat until creamy. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Gently stir in Treasures and nuts. Drop dough by heaping tablespoon 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

The kids can "chop" the candy and nuts by sealing them in a plastic food storage bag, then pounding them with a rolling pin.
