Quick Molasses Brown Bread
Serves: 6-8
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30-35 minutes

1 cup flour or 1-1/4 teaspoons baking soda or 3/4 teaspoon salt or 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs or 3 tablespoons butter, softened or 1 egg or 1 cup buttermilk or 1/2 cup molasses or 1/2 cup raisins

Sift flour, soda and salt together. Add bread crumbs and mix well. Cut in butter. Beat egg and combine with buttermilk, molasses and raisins. Add to dry mixture; stir until just blended. Pour into well-greased 2 quart ring mold or 8" tube pan. Bake at 400 degrees for about 30-35 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. This is heavy, non-sweet bread, similar to steamed Boston bread, only much easier and quicker. Serve warm with baked beans.
