Wreaths are far easier to make than they look! With just a few simple items and tools, you are ready to start. You can use fresh pine boughs and herbs or dried pine cones and flowers that will last year after year.

Classic Christmas Wreath
You will need a wire wreath frame, floral wire, wire cutters, fresh pine greens, and a big red bow to make this wreath.

Start by selecting pine branches and trimming them to even lengths of about 4 to 8 inches depending on the size of your frame. Check the length you need by holding a pine branch up to the frame.

To wire branches to the frame, simply hold the branch against the frame and make a wire loop around the end of the branch. Securely attach the branch to the frame with a few loops of the floral wire.

Cut the wire and secure the end by tucking it under the rest of the loops. Repeat this process, slipping the cut end of each branch under the one proceeding, until you have completed the wreath.

You can decorate your wreath with a large red bow. You might also want to decorate it with pine cones, holly berries, mistletoe and ornaments. Wire each decoration individually to the frame or a pine branch.

European Pine Cone Wreath
For this, you need pine cones of similar or varying sizes, a grapevine or Styrofoam wreath form, a glue gun and small bowl of ice water, in case of burns. Use a low-temperature glue gun for Styrofoam forms.

Using the glue gun, apply a generous amount of glue to one side of a pine cone and place it on the wreath form. Hold the pine cone for a few seconds to allow the glue to set. Continue in this manner until you have covered the entire wreath.

To dress up the wreath, attach a red ribbon or apply varnish to the pine cones. Varnish will make the wreath glossy and help prolong its life. Spray varnish is the easiest to use and while it's wet, you can dust the wreath with fake snow or glitter.

Country Kitchen Christmas Wreath
A fresh herb wreath adds beauty and scent to your kitchen for the holidays! Choose several bunches of the same fresh herb or combine any number of different herbs. You will also need a wire wreath frame, floral wire, and cutters.

Make small bundles of fresh herbs and tie them off with the floral wire. Begin wiring the herb bundles to the frame with the floral wire in an overlapping fashion, tucking the new bundle under the one before. Your last bundle should overlap to cover the first bundle wired on the frame.

These herb wreaths will last for about 3 to 4 weeks. When they dry, use the dried herbs in cooking.

Whatever the choice, a wreath represents never-ending hospitality and goodwill.
