A glorious mixture of dry or silk flowers in deep autumn tones, Spanish moss, and eucalyptus branches come together in a cornucopia basket. Use it as a centerpiece or to decorate a sideboard, buffet table, or small table in the front hall.

Assembling this seasonal decoration is easy. The necessary supplies can be found at a good craft store and florist. You may already have some!

What You Need

Here is what you will need:

A medium-sized cornucopia basket (a little more than a foot long)

1 small block Styrofoam (such as Gentle Grip), approximately 3-by-3 1/2-by-8 inches

8 large silk or dry flowers in autumn colors

4 small silk or dry flowers in autumn colors

4 brown eucalyptus or berry branches

2 or 3 branches of silk or artificial autumn leaves

Craft glue

Wire cutters

Floral knife or strong scissors

How to Assemble the Cornucopia

Cover a work table with newspaper and lay all the supplies on it. Be sure to work somewhere where you can leave the basket for at least an hour once you have assembled it so that the glue can dry.

To begin, stuff a small handful of Spanish moss in the bottom of the cornucopia basket.

Cut the Styrofoam block in half lengthwise and trim to fit in the basket on top of the moss. It should fit in the basket so that touches its sides and reaches to about 1 1/2 inches from the rim. Remove the Styrofoam and put a dab of glue on each corner. Replace and press gently so that the glue adheres to the sides of the basket.

Cut the eucalyptus or berry branches apart, if necessary. Insert one stem on each side of the Styrofoam and on the bottom of the block.

Insert three of the large flowers near the middle of the block, closer to the top than the bottom. Bend one so that it faces up. Insert two other large flowers on each side, midway from the bottom. Arrange the remaining flowers as you like.

Insert the branches of autumn leaves among the flowers. Arrange more Spanish moss in the basket, below the flowers and branches so that it spills out in a decorative way.

Before moving it, let the cornucopia sit on the table for at least an hour for the glue to dry.
