New Potatoes with Herbs

1 1/2 pounds new red potatoes, small
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
salt
freshly ground pepper
4 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
2 shallots, large, minced
2 large cloves garlic, minced




Pierce potatoes in several places with a fork. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook potatoes until almost tender, shaking skillet occasionally, about 25 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons basil, shallots, and garlic. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook until potatoes are very tender and brown, about 10 mintues. Transfer to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons basil. Serve immediately.
