1/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 pound candied cherries, chopped
1/2 pound pineapple, candied, cut into small chunks
1/2 pound raisins, white
1 pound chopped pecans
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoon soda
1/3 cup bourbon, (or orange juice)

Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Combine cherries, pineapple, raisins and pecans. Sift flour, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon over fruit and mix well. Combine buttermilk and soda; add alternately with bourbon to the floured fruit. Stir in creamed mixture. Line cookie sheets with wax paper. Drop dough from teaspoon onto wax paper and bake at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove from paper and let cool on wire racks. Pack in cookie tins and sprinkle with additional bourbon.
