2/3 cup shortening
1 box (1 pound) brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1 package (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips




Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Bake in greased, 9-inch by 13-inch pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
