1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup (or more) chopped nuts




Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg and vanilla. Resift flour with salt and baking powder; add gradually to butter mixture. Add nuts, mix well. Form into two rolls; wrap in wax paper and refrigerate until firm. Cut into 1/8 inch slices; place on lightly-greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until cookies are lightly brown around the edges.
