1/2 cup soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 pounds flank steak, trimmed of fat and scored on both sides

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, ginger, and garlic salt in a shallow dish. Place steak in dish, cover, and mrinate 6 to 8 hours in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before cooking. Prepare broiler. Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat about 5 minutes per side. Slice on the diagonal and serve.
