Mac's Meat Tacos
This is a great do-it-yourself meal for putting whatever you want in your tacos yourself at the dinner table.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon (or more) chili powder
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
2 1/2 cups canned tomatoes, or 2 1/4 cups, diced fresh tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne, plus 3 dashes Tabasco or 1 or 2 chili piquins, crushed
12 taco shells
hot sauce, Mexican
shredded lettuce

Brown meat in slightly greased skillet or Dutch oven, over medium heat. Cook about 30 minutes. Add chili powder, garlic, onion, tomatoes, salt and chili piquins. Simmer over low heat for 2 hours, adding a little water from time to time to keep mixture juicy. Place about 3 tablespoongs meat mixtures into each taco shell, dribble a little hot sauce over meat, and fill remainder of shell with shredded lettuce. Or, Occasionally, serve "do-it-yourself" style.
