Oysters Gourmet
Oysters on the half shell are great for a party hor d'oeuvre.

1 quart oysters, drained
Salt and pepper
Lemon juice
1/2 cup butter
1 cup celery, finely chopped
1 small clove garlic, crushed
1 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs, rye
12 large oysters, shells




Cut oysters in half; season with salt, pepper and mlemon juice. Melt butter in heavy skillet and add celery, garlic, catsup and Worcestershire sauce. Add seasoned oysters. Simmer on very low heat for about 20 minutes. Pile mixture into oyster shells. Saute rye crumbs in additional butter until toasted; sprinkle over oyster mixture, and dot with more butter. Bake in hot oven, or under broiler, just until browned. Do not overcook.
