1 cup flour, (for pastry)
1/2 cup butter, (for pastry)
2 tablespoons water, (for pastry)
1/2 cup butter, (for topping)
1 cup water, (for topping)
1 teaspoon almond flavoring, (for topping)
1 cup all-purpose flour, (for topping)
3 eggs, (for topping)
1 cup Powdered sugar, (for icing)
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring, (for icing)
milk, (for icing)
slivered almonds, (for icing)

Pastry: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. place flour in a bowl, cut in butter, sprinkle with water, and mix with a fork. Form into a ball and divide in half. Pat into two 12 x 3-inch strips and place about 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
Topping: Mix butter and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add flavoring. Beat in flour quickly to prevent lumping. When smooth, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Divide in half and spread evenly over pastry strips. Bake for 1 hour. Cool and drizzle with icing.
Icing: Mix powdered sugar, almond flavoring, and enough milk to reach spreading consistency. Sprinkle with slivered almonds.
