Savory Shrimp Salad

2 cups mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
1 tube (1.5 ounces) anchovy paste
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
3 or 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
freshly ground pepper
5 pounds fresh small shrimp, boiled, peeled, deveined, and chilled
4 avocados, pitted, peeled, and chopped into 1/2 inch squares
lettuce leaves

Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, anchovy paste, parsley, chives, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.

When ready to serve, add shrimp and avocados. Toss gently and serve on a bed of crisp lettuce leaves.
