Elizardi's Eggnog
This is an easy to make eggnog which is great for a Christmas party or just a traditional treat.

1 dozen eggs, separated
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cups sugar, (in all)
2 (or more) cups bourbon
1 jigger (2 ounces) rum
3 pints heavy cream
1 quart milk
1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
nutmeg, to sprinkle on top

Beat egg yolk and salt; add 1-1/2 cups sugar. After sugar has dissolved, gradually add bourbon and rum to the mixture, stirring constantly. Fold in beaten egg whites. Taste; add more whiskey if desired (mixture should be a little strong at this point). If not sweet enough, add more sugar. If too thick, add more milk. Fold whipped cream into eddnog, sprinkle nutmeg on top and serve immediately.
