Artichoke Fritters

2 cans (8-1/2 oz. each) artichoke hearts
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup Bisquick
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons double acting baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
oil, for frying

Drain artichokes, cut into quarters, and set aside. Combine egg and milk. Stir in dry ingredients, onion and parsley. Dip artichokes in batter. Fry in at least 2 inches of oil at 350 degrees F. for 6 to 8 minutes each. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with extra salt and serve.
