Potato Pot Roast Chowder

3/4 pound beef sirloin, cut into bite size strips
3 cans beef broth
1/2 cup red wine, merlot
1 cup carrots, diced
1 1/2 cups potatoes, diced, peeled
1/2 cup red onion, diced
1 cup mashed potato flakes
1 tablespoon fresh thyme
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish

Bring broth to boil, add wine, beef, carrots, potatoes and onions and simmer for 25 minutes. Add instant mashed potatoes, thyme, and pepper and simmer and additional 3 minutes. Combine sour cream and horseradish. Ladle chowder into bowls and garnish with horseradish & sour cream.
