Quickie Cajun Ribs

1 cup barbecue sauce, tomato-based
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, or more, to taste
4 to 6 pounds pork backrib

Prepare a medium-hot charcoal fire. Combine barbecue sauce, honey, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, oregano, cayenne and hot red pepper sauce in a small pot and set aside. Season ribs with salt and place bone side down on oiled cooking grid set 4 to 6 inches above ashed coals. Grill, turning once or twice, until lightly browned, about 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, place the pot of barbecue sauce on the side of the cooking grid to warm. Brush ribs with sauce and continue turning and brushing until meat is well browned and cooked through, about 15 minutes longer. Cut slab of ribs into serving portions and serve.
