2 cups kasha
2 eggs, lightly beaten
4 cups boiling water
4 tablespoons chicken fat
1 onion, finely chopped
1/2 pound bow tie pasta, small, cooked
salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste




Combine the kasha and eggs in a saucepan and stir over moderate heat until all the ingredients are blended and kasha os evenly coated. Add the boiling water , cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes, until kasha is tender. If any cooking liquid remians, remove the cover and continue to cook until all the liquid is absorbed. Heat the chicken fat in a small pan over moderate heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring for 3 to 4 minutes until softened and translucent. Add the noodles and onions to the kasha. Season with salt and pepper.
