Creamed Mushrooms and Onions a la Romano

1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 can (15 1/2 ounces) small white onions, drained
1 package white sauce mix
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/3 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Rinse and pat dry fresh mushrooms (makes 2 1/2 cups); set aside. Prepare white sauce according to directions. Season with Italian seasoning and black pepper. Place mushrooms and onions in buttered one-quart casserole. Pour sauce over all. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in preheated moderate oven, 350 degrees, for 30 minutes. Serve piping hot.
