1 1/4  cups flour
1/2  teaspoon baking soda
1/2  teaspoon salt
1/2  cup butter, softened
1/2  cup sugar
1/2  cup firmly packed brown sugar
1  large egg
1/2  teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup butterscotch morsels

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt.

In the bowl of an electric mixer set at medium speed, cream the butter with sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and beat well. Gradually add the dry ingredients, beating on low speed just until thoroughly combined.

Spread the batter in the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the butterscotch morsels evenly over the top and bake for about 5 minutes or just until the morsels are shiny and soft. With dull kitchen knife or small spatula, swirl the softened butterscotch morsels into batter to create a marbled effect.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (if you like goo-ier blondies, there can be a little batter on the toothpick). Cool in the pan set on a wire rack. Cut into bars when cool.
