1 cake or package dry yeast or 1/3 cup water, warm or 1/4 cup shortening, melted or 1/2 cup sugar or 1 tablespoon salt or 2 cups water, lukewarm or 6 cups flour




Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup warm water. In separate bowl, combine shortening, sugar, salt and 2 cups lukewam water. Add yeast. Stir in flour and mix well. Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth. Put dough in greased bowl and let rise until double in size (1-2hours). Punch down, and shape into 2 large loaves. Put into well-greased bread pans and let rise until double in size, about 30-40 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
