All-American Apple Pie
Everybody love apple pie, and this flavorful version is just as good as mom's.
Serves: 8 servings
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes

2 refrigerated pie crust, thawed according to package directions
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 medium apple, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
1 egg white, lightly beaten

Heat the oven to 400°F.  Press 1 pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
Stir the sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl.  Add the apples and toss to coat.  Spoon the apple mixture into the crust and top with the butter.  Place the remaining crust over the filling.  Trim excess crust.  Press the edges to seal.  Flute the edge, if desired.  Brush the crust with the egg white.  Cut 6 (1/2-inch) slits in the top crust.
Bake for 30 or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
For a star-spangled pie, thaw an additional pie crust and cut into star shapes using a 1 1/2-inch star-shaped cookie cutter. Arrange the stars on the top crust of the pie before baking and brush with the egg white.  Bake as directed above.
